1. Fei-Fei Li
Fei-Fei Li is one of the most famous women in AI. She’s seen as an AI pioneer focusing on computer vision. Her mission is to bring humanity to AI and to ensure it becomes more inclusive.
Her accomplishments include working as Chief Scientist of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning for Google, becoming a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, and building ImageNet, a large image dataset. Li plays a large part in the AI boom in recent years. Her achievements have made many AI companies to invest in desirable.
She is also the co-founder of AI4ALL, a non-profit organization that supports AI education programs for students who belong to underrepresented groups.
2. Latanya Sweeney
Latanya Sweeney was the first African American woman to receive a Ph.D. in computer science from MIT. She is mostly known for her work on the theory of k-anonymity and for exposing discrimination in online advertising through her research.
Among other titles, Latanya is a Professor of the Practice of Government and Technology at the Harvard Kennedy School and one of the Faculty Deans at Harvard’s Currier House.

4. Ruzena Bajcsy
Ruzena Bajcsy is an American engineer and computer scientist. She earned her Ph.D. in engineering from Slovak Technical University in 1967 and one in computer science from Stanford University in 1972. She is currently a Professor at the University of California, Berkeley.
Ruzena’s most important AI contributions are robotics, computer vision, human-computer interaction, and human modelling. Over the years, she has written and published more than 200 articles presenting her research.
5. Cynthia Breazeal
Cynthia Breazeal is a renowned robotics scientist and pioneer in social robotics. She is currently a Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at MIT.
She is mostly famous for her work on the Kismet robot, an expressive robotic creature meant to serve as a companion. She is passionate about creating social robots that have social and emotional intelligence.
Among other notable achievements, Cynthia worked as a consultant on the movie A.I. Artificial Intelligence, directed by Steven Spielberg.

7. Danica Kragic
Danica Kragic earned her Ph.D. from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, where she is now a Professor of Computer Science. In 2019, Swedish Business Week named her Sweden’s most powerful woman in technology.

8. Francesca Rossi
Francesca Rossi is a computer scientist at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Lab in New York.
She received her Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Pisa, in Italy, in 1993. She worked as a Professor at the University of Padova until 2018.
Francesca’s interests include constraint programming, preference modelling, knowledge representation, and ethically aligned AI. She is even seen as a leader in AI ethics.
9. Ellen Hildreth
Ellen Hildreth received her Ph.D. from MIT’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1983. She is currently a Professor of computer science at Wellesley College.
Ellen’s most important contributions are in computer vision and visual perception. She has mostly known for co-inventing the Marr-Hildreth algorithm, a computer vision method detecting edges in digital images.
Finally, she is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, which promotes research and the responsible use of AI.
